Coquina Channel Dredging Seagrass Mitigation

AquaTech Eco Consultants was contracted by the City of Bradenton Beach to transplant .32 acres of shoalgrass and turtlegrass to meet mitigation requirements for a dredge project. 0.32 acres of seagrass was removed from the footprint of the dredge using 6 in. cores and transplanted in the designated mitigation area on 1 ft. centers. A requirement of 75% success criteria a minimum of 45 days after transplantation in all mitigation areas was required in order for AquaTech to receive payment for fulfilling this contract. Monitoring for success criteria was completed by a third party, and all mitigation areas were confirmed to meet the minimum of 75% success.
